View Full Version : Illegal Immigrants
What are your thoughts... the idea of giving illegal immigrants permission to stay and work in the U.S.? How do you feel about Vincente Fox saying we should do more for his people?
I think vicente (presidente Fox) needs to take care of the mexican people instead of taking the easy way out and asking the US to take care of them for him he should start with the gas prices since its run by the goverment its a shame they drive all the way out here to fill up there cars
It is a shame he hasn't started working on his country. He should also create jobs so the immigrants stay there instead of taking jobs from Americans.
My country became rich through the persistent exploitation of others. We continue to feed the world's hatred towards us by an arrogrant foreign policy. Our unilateral invasion of Iraq being the latest. (Except for Bush's coaltion of...let's see, who were they...Papua New Guinea, Morroco, Netherlands, Spain, Costa Rica and a few others).
Remember that it is Bush who is promoting a new round of amnesty for illegal aliens. Business needs cheap labor to maximize their profits and there are very few Americans willing to do the work these people do. Bush and his business pals need illegal aliens to make them more money. Unfortunately for them, they have also planted the seeds of discontent among the working class. The non-rich fight each other, pointing fingers of blame on Mexico, welfare cheats, Blacks, etc.
Corporate America needs us to blame Mexico and other powerless groups to keep attention away from themselves. Instead of blaming Fox, go check how many CEO's are making fortunes while screwing the workers (ENRON, WorldCom, Halliburton, etc). Halliburton for example, pays it's workers in Iraq much, much more than our soldier's make. And they make their riches off the invasion.
As Leona Helmseley once said: " Only the little people pay taxes."
Don't be fooled by the power elites making us fight each other.
So here's my question in retort:
"Does a corporation making billions in profits at the same time they are downsizing have a responsibility to the people they make their money from?"
If Fox would find a way to fix the economy in his country, many illegal immigrants would not be suffering as much as they do now.
Yes..companies are at fault too for hiring cheap labor instead of giving legal citizens a chance. It is all a vicious circle.

A. Who is going to foo the bill for sending them all back home on a plane?
I may not 100% agree with bushes idea but since i cant think of anything better im wise enough to keep my mouth shut and i do know it sure as hell beats kerrys idea of almsot instantly granting them citizenship.
B. Someone has to do the job Haliburton is doing and i would rather an american company employing american citizens do it than someone else. as far as its employees making loads of cashl. yes . a lot of americans are making a lot of money over there. its part of the oil industry. they get paid a lot because the job is dangerous and exacting with no room for error. the further away from home and the more dangerous the job the higher the pay. nothing changed just for iraq. its just another far away place with a new level of danger and those willing to risk that get the cash.
C. If you dislike capitalism and think you live in a sorry country by all means move.
It is the duty of every citizen in this country to be critical of its government. Patriotism is not defined by blind allegiance. We encourage and solicit criticism in a democracy. If you are looking for a “like it or leave it” government, you might look into Fascism.
It is not capitalism I abhor but the callous application of power. Our soldiers do not make a fair salary because the Bush administration favors corporate interests. If anyone should be making Halliburton salaries it is our soldiers. They are under-paid and under-supplied. It is time we treated our military with respect.
I happen to like Bush’s Immigration proposal; it makes sense for both business and immigrants. I think the Democrats’ opposition to it is shamelessly political. But as the grandson of an immigrant to a land previously occupied by earlier generations, I find the whole issue inappropriately framed. Of course, as products of a European based education system, most of us still think the transfer of this land to the U.S. was legitimate.
Til now, i havent had the prob with illegal citizens taking jobs I want... but I do have a thing against.. people that are not well educated or experience getting jobs that others with education deserve and are expierence, just to cut back on labor hours and funds... It sux i tell ya!... Just wish that system would break down...
I honest cant beleive my managers arent computerliterate, or speak english well, yet they are above me. How? i have no idea.

I'll tell you one thing though, up here in Minnesota, if we didn't have illegal immigrants, the farming/factory/agricultural/gardening etc. industry would be broke, cause I know the native minnesotans aren't going to do the back breaking work these people do and for the pay they get.
But like all races, there's always those who mess up/take advantage/are criminals etc... and should be sent back to their native country, yet... why aren't white "americans" sent back to their native country too. Germany... Sweden....Britan......Chechz...etc...
Everyone's quick to wanna send the Mexicans back to Mexico.. even their own people.....but what about the others??
Vicente Fox knows all to well that America relies on these "illegal immigrants", so think about it, why shouldn't America try and help them out seeing as they're the ones who do the dirty work we for sure wouldn't get caught doing..and how much money do these people bring to the U.S? ummm .... Darn they even made a movie about those kind of Mexicans... "A Day Without a Mexican" Yall being Mexican yourselves should go see it........
One more thing... Love to my hometown.. Eagle Pass
