On one of the coldest days we've seen so far, power outages are plaguing the town of Del Rio. Electricity went out at 8pm on Thursday, leaving many citizens vulnerable to cold temperatures.
City leaders are making sure that all emergency services continue to operate and police are patrolling the area.
There are also problems with the city's water supply, and residents are being urged to conserve.
Del Rio city leaders are requesting that Governor Rick Perry declare a state of emergency for the South Texas town.

Just hang in there. It seems the whole southwest Texas area was affected, including as far south as Laredo.

It seems the main problem now aside for the fact there are still people in Del Rio without light as of 8 p.m. last night is that the Water Treatment Plant is also without power so whatever Water is in the Water Tanks as of now is the only water the city has until the plant is up and running again.

What about all the businesses and restaurants in Del Rio? How long did they have to close? And does your hospital have a back-up generator?
