I and some friends are planning a trip to EP for some gambling, mexican souvenirs and camping in the great outdoors.
Are there any campgrounds or sites near the river either on the US or Mex side?
In the US border..not that I am aware of. In Mexico I wouldn't suggest it.

Is it unsafe on the Mexico side to camp? Are there any campgrounds in or near EP? What about local/state/national parks?
Well, I just wouldn't do it. Maybe you can get an opinion from a male.
About campgrounds..I haven't lived in EP for almost ten years but, I haven't heard of any.
There is a state park called Garner State Park maybe 2 hrs away. I don't know if Del Rio, TX has any campgrounds.

Thanks mena for your responses. Seems like there is no camping near EP. I have searched all over the web for even a KOA or something but nothing nearby.
Eagle Pass has just started growing and they have a long way to go in the "things to do" category. :)

You can play golf by the river under the international bridge. If you want camping, you probably have to go to Del Rio to the Admistad Lake.

I checked out Amistadt on the web and it looks cool. Anyone been there? How is the park and camping?

Mena, here is an opinion from a male.
Camping in Piedras Negras is kind of cool because you can get to see the stars. You have to know somebody that has a ranch. I myself have camped in two ranches, one near Villa de Fuente and the other near Normandy on the American side.
Thanks guys for sharing your knowledge in the topic of "camping". I wish I could just have a straight answer for you Rick, in regards to camping. If you have read the whole forum people have asked about fishing too. We have received the same response "Amistad".
Good luck with your adventure and keep us updated on whatever you decide. :)

I will keep you posted on how the trip goes. I think were gonna do the motel room thing the first time and scout around.
Any suggestions on a cheap travelers motel?
Anyone got a ranch we can camp on next time please let us know, Mexican or American side.
Thanks Mena and everyone else.
Our member, Yellow Wing Wil was also asking about a cheap motel. You might want to send an email for a conclusion to the search. The topic is under "Border Issues".
Camping in Mexico, dont suggest!.... Moderate priced motel places to stay, would suggest Dream motel but not like staying at the mariot! lol....
Good luck all, wish we had more recreational things to offer, but as someone said earlier, EP is just starting to grow. WE GOT A CASINO tho... if spending money is what is in mind... the casino is a good shot! GOD BLESS... KEEP US POSTED
