Biography
Shoebat was born in Beit Sahour, Bethlehem. He moved to Jericho and lived through the Six Day War of June 1967. "On the sixth day [of the war], everything went quiet," Walid told BBC News. "My father was listening to Arab radio and the news said: 'We cleansed Jerusalem of the Jews'. Then we opened the door and there was this Israeli tank with the Star of David flag standing in our street!"

His great-grandfather on his mother's side, an American, was the mayor of Eureka in Humboldt County, while his grandfather on his father's side was friendly with the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseni.

His American mother met his father, a Jordanian, while they were studying at Humboldt State University in California. She returned with her husband to the Middle East, where he taught English and Islamic studies. Shoebat told the Daily Telegraph that his father changed toward his mother once he was back in his own culture. She apparently wanted to return to America with her children, but her husband took her passport and kept her a prisoner in the family home.

My father was caught between his love for his wife and his love for Islam. He could not see a way to reconcile the two. The tension made him a very unhappy and angry man. But Islam won.
As a teenager in the mid-70s, Shoebat joined the PLO and took part in organizing demonstrations and printing fliers. His dream, he told the BBC, was to die as a shaheed (martyr). One day during a riot, he and a group of other Palestinians lynched an Israeli soldier, who was rescued by Israeli troops. Shoebat was arrested and imprisoned for several weeks in the Muscovite Prison in Jerusalem. After his release, he admits to having bombed an Israeli bank in Bethlehem.

In an effort to secure an education for their son, his parents sent him to the United States, where he enrolled in Loop College in Chicago, becoming president of the Palestinian Students' Association. He later moved to California, where he met his wife, a Mexican Roman Catholic. They now have two children.

I wanted her to convert to Islam. I told her Jews had corrupted the Bible and she asked me to show her some examples of this corruption. At this point I had to go and buy a Bible and I started reading it and I saw the word 'Israel' all over it. I had to be brutally honest — the very word I hated the most was throughout this book!
Shoebat has explained that he was raised in an atmosphere of anti-Semitism. "From kindergarten we were taught that Jews were dogs. We were taught that Jews were the converts of monkeys, that Jews were Sabbath breakers and prophet killers. We even considered Arabs in pre-1967 Israel traitors because we could not understand how they could co-exist with Jews."

After reading the Bible, he decided to renounce violence and convert to Christianity. His family denounced him and his brother threatened to kill him for abandoning Islam.

Shoebat previously worked as a software engineer, and now works full time lecturing and participating in discussions as a public advocate of peace and an opponent of "militancy as a way of solving the Palestinian problem." He believes the only solution to the conflict is "the crushing defeat of all Palestinian military groups."

He has told reporters that he has received e-mails telling him that he's going to be assassinated, and that there's a reward of $10 million for whoever kills him.

"I don't know what's going on," Archibald said Tuesday as he stood outside the ruins of his church. "It's just sickness."
Morning Star Baptist and three other rural Alabama churches were damaged or destroyed by fires Tuesday, bringing the number of suspicious church fires in the state to nine in less than a week. Authorities said they had no clear suspects but were inspecting tire tracks and footprints and searching for a dark-colored sport-utility vehicle.
"Obviously somebody or somebodies are interested in burning down churches. Whether it's hate against a race or religion in general, we don't know," said Ragan Ingram, a spokesman for the state insurance agency that oversees fire investigations.
Ingram said the first rash of fires early Friday — at four predominantly white churches and one predominantly black church — are believed to be linked.

Three of the fires Tuesday appeared to have started near the churches' altars, according to church members and authorities, and at least two were found to be arson.
Rich Marianos, a spokesman for the federal Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agency, said more than 50 agents are now assigned to the investigation and it is the No. 1 priority nationally.
In Boligee, Archibald said he was told by a resident that a sport-utility vehicle had been seen speeding through an intersection near the church.
Members of the Old Union Baptist Church in Brierfield, damaged by fire early Friday, had earlier told The Associated Press they saw a dark SUV near their church as they arrived to douse the flames.
Archibald's Morning Star Baptist Church was reduced to smoking rubble. Burned to its concrete block foundation, all that remained of the wood-frame building was the front steps and handrail.

The problem with Israel is not just their spying on us. We the US taxpayers fund Israel an unproportionate amount of aid each year. More than what is normal.

Also, one of the most powerful lobbying groups in Washington is AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee). This is a pro-Israel organization which gives many kinds monetary donations to most members of Congress in exchange for pro-Israel policies.

No other country in the world has has such a big lobbying group in Washington promoting its interests. Recently AIPAC has been under FBI investigation for receiving classified information from a Pentagon official and using this information on behalf of the government of Israel, for those who have been following the real news.
