"Fitness problems such as obesity and overweight have reached truly epidemic proportions in the United States. In the last 10 years, obesity rates have increased by more than 60 percent among adults. In 1999, 61 percent of the adult population was either overweight or obese. The obesity epidemic impacts other diseases as well. For example, the incidence of type 2 diabetes, a major consequence of obesity, is on the rise. Among U.S. adults, diagnosed diabetes increased 49 percent from 1990 to 2000."
What are you doing to stay healthy and fit? What diet do you recommend for a person trying to stay "slim-trim" and healthy? Share some of your recipes.
Tell us your workout program and schedule. Include your philosophy of strength and conditioning for healthy living. What are some places around Eagle Pass where one can go and "blow steam" and workout??? Where is your favorite place to jog/run in Eagle Pass? Any neat Trails?
I don't know about neat trails in EP but, I like to go to the park on Quarry St. When I go to places during the day I try and take the farthest parking space from where I am going. This is of course if the area is safe and during the day. I do the same for school. I park at the farthest lot and it literally takes me about 20 minutes to get to my first class (one way).
As far as food goes I try to limit the amount of food I put on my plate except when I am at my parents house. I break all the food rules there.
One more thing, I love to eat sandwiches during the summer so, I substitute chips for carrots or celery. It satisfies the crunch.

What I have been doing is going to the gym at least 3 times a week, I try to go more if I can, I do cardiac resistance training and weights, totally watch my diet, I'm on a high protein and "brown" carbs only diet. I have lost a total of about 15 lbs so far, I would like to loose about 5 more and thats it, then I'll really start to do the weight training a little more seriously, just for the lean muscle look. I definitely dont want to look muscular at all just healthier. You're right about dropping the food rules at my parents house, I eat what my mother makes just not as much as I used to. Our instructor told us in class that sugars are stored directly as fat, so forget the sweets for me, I havent had any in about 6 weeks. (and I have a weekness for sweets!!!) Actually no, I'm forgetting, the sweets that I have had are pria bars they are high protein and low carb and low calorie and they dont taste too bad. :D
