Class Reunions

So. I've been to a couple of the class reunion websites that are linked to the epalumni site and see that a few classes have had some pretty cool reunions. Are any forum members active in reunion preparations? I would have liked to graduate with the class that took that cruise! Wow!:cool:
I see our graduating class is planning a reunion. Let's see what they can do with the time they have left.
What are your opinions on reunions? Do you think these are put together so folks can get together and reminisce and re-connect or are they affairs for gloating? Do you think the graduates that do show are the ones that were "popular" or do you think everybody feels they can show up and enjoy themselves?

In my personal opinion it is an affair for gloating, its probably mostly the people that organized it attending.My ex was so antisocial when they did ours that I didnt go. I would go now though,do they do 20 year reunions?

I have never attended any of mine. All the people that I used to hang around with I still see. So I saw no reason to pay to have to go see the same people when I can see them for free. lol But I have to agree that the cruise was a good idea. Something different.

I tend to agree with Norma Rae and G. They do seem to be about gloating and who did what, where, when, and how. Unlike Evie, I am not fortunate enough to see any of the people I went to high school with. Other than looking in on the class website, I couldn't tell you about any of them. The one friend I did have that I graduated with has disappeared. I saw him last when my daughter was about a year old and have not been able to locate him. Like me, he was a little bit of a loner. A brilliant one at that. Anyway, there ARE 20 year reunions and I missed that one! The first one I wasn't really impressed with.
What I don't like is the 3 day thing. One of my co-workers just went to his reunion in Massachussetts and it was a one evening affair at a local hotel. All he did was show up, sign in, mingle and leave. It wasn't nearly as expensive as some of the pricetags I've seen on these things.

A FEW YEARS AGO MY YOUNGER SISTER WENT TO HER 20TH CLASS REUNION AND THIS GUY CAME OVER AND KISS HER AND TALK TO HER FOR A WHILE. MY SISTER DIDN'T KNOW WHO IN THE WORLD WHO HE WAS. BUT HE WAS MARRIED TO ONE OF HER CLASSMATES. HE CONTINUE COMING OVER TO HER AND KISSING HER AND HUGING HER. EVERYBODY THAT WAS WITH HER WILL LAUGH. HE WAS DRUNK. ON ONE OF HIS CONVERSATIONS HE SAID YOU OWE ME A CLASS JACKET. MY SISTER CALL ME ON THE SECOND DAY AND ASK ME DO YOU KNOW THIS GUY HIS NAME IS !!!!!!!! AND LAST NAME IS !!!!!!! AND I SAID YES, I USE TO GO OUT WITH HIM. SHE STARTED LAUGHING, HE THINKS I AM YOU. I TOLD HER DON'T TELL HIM, JUST HAVE FUN WITH IT. UNTIL NOW HER CLASS MATE FRIENDS MAKE FUN AT HER. You just meet people and as you get to know them things come out. We all have faults and it is up to you whether you want to accept those faults or not. Now answer me this? You make it sound like you have never done this. Like if you only go out with non-low blow Joes. You have been married quite a few times, what happened there? We have all met, gone out with, and even married some low blow Joes in our lifetime. That is just part of life. Some Joes have a good side to them and I guess I saw that first.

To tell you the truth if I meet a guy it takes me a few minutes and if I don't like him I talk away. I am old enough to know what I want and can spot a Joe or a player from far away. I was married twice a military lawyer that marriage lasted 5yrs. I walk out of that marriage because he spent alot of time researching cases and i found myself in New York with no family members and I hated New York. My second marriage was for 25yrs. We were like the song too little too late, the kids had grown and we were growing apart. "EMPTY NET" I felt lost and empty and my husband still in the military will be sent away often. I had to make changes for myself. For me, myself and I. So I put in for a divorce. It was not easy, but its better then to live a life where one is no longer happy. And no I haven't gone out with a low blow Joe yet. I have gone out with few men after my divorce, no Joes but its hard to fine the one that clicks. I don't like men to smoke, a men can only drink socialy pero not every week-end. I don't like men that get drunk, cus or try to control me. I got my own list, if that doesn't happen oh, well I am not in need of a man. As for my friend, its not that we didn't speak because she like joes, but our interested was different. I went out with her to sports bars and other places she enjoys. She did some of the things I enjoy. But at the end we drift apart. She will always say she never being to Las Vegas, so one time all of my friends plan a trip to Vegas its was just going to cost $289 per person flight and hotel, she said no cause my Baby promise he was going to take me and if he doesn't take me oh, well.
I got a lot of friends younger, my age and older. We click, we have alot of things in common. We do alot of things together. Some are single, married, divorce and widow. One time we took a curise and end up with 500 people, with friends of friends of friends. Then thoes friends of friends becomes everybody else friends and if one friend can't go another friends of friends join us.:)

Buenos dias Norma Rae. I don't think I've quite guessed your generation but more and more you sound like my mom. If I can understand your history and your refusal to be either verbally or physically abused, then you can understand why profanity is an issue with me as well. We all have a history. It's how we earn the badges we wear. Courage, strength, patience.....learned by living. Acuerdate, que no hay mal que por bien no venga. You know Irenera I think alot like you do on this matter. Y no es que me crea mucho, or that I am better than anyone else. I guess that it is because I am older now, ya vivi mis momentos (y que momentos;)). I don't think she was too much into looks, I got to know alot of her boyfriends tall, short, skinny, fat, her age, younger, and older all kinds. She is into hair and shine shoes, kind of crazy right. As for prison time, I had a good husband. He will make the money and I will spent it ha!ha!ha! he not once ask me how much I spent. I will argue about what ever he will go outside and ignore me. I will say its night and he will say its day. Very,Very much the opposite. But he bore me, never gave me a fight for anything. But you see all this time I was married and my friend was single. G/f I know what you are saying. My prison time was just a matter of speaking. Its like you can't hang out like when you are single. Like I did my time. My years went by so fast raising a family and a husband. I was always on the go. Now I just go home and relax, or go and have a margarita, pick up something to eat or what ever I want to do. :p

Going back to the original idea...I live in Mexico City and haven't seen my EPHS classmates since ...forever. So I would love to go to a reunion, but it's too expensive for me.

We do think we're going to live forever. I inherited the deadly disease from my mother, my grandfather died from it and I did everything I possibly could to keep it at bay. It finally reached me after I spent 10 days in a coma. Go figure. Oh well....with the way the world is going maybe we SHOULD have more than one graduating class getting together. Te digo....:(

I agree. People tend to have expectations of you as you were back then and sometimes become immediately judgemental not knowing what your cirumstances are or what they have been. I really don't want to have to explain to people why I do what I do. They wouldn't understand.

Thats my Susie Q. Why do u think I am the way I am and wouldn't settle for anything less. I was super chiflada for 25yrs. I don't know any less than that. .:( Thats why I am looking for a man that can spoil me to death, with loving and everything else. So last night I perused my high school yearbooks and had a laugh and then some. I read all the things people had written in my books and I'm thinking to myself "Who are these people?":eek: I had no clue who they were until I looked at their pictures.

So that means you went to it, girl after we talk about it some time ago. What happen that made you depressing. You still end up being a wall flower, same-o,same-o. same little groups. the best class reunion I ever had was college class reuntion friends. Its a group of 14 girls, we went through dateing, getting drank, we party hardy. some of us got married had children and some have grandchildren. We meet once a year right before xmas and new years and have dinner at the river walk when the xmas lights are on. We catch up and we laugh and cry. Now some of us are divorce or widows, children are grown. We take cursies and travel, only one year we were all able to travel together. This is my class reunions, my high school reunions are for the birds, it doesn't interested me since the 20yrs class reunion.:cool:

MMMM 3 or 4 watches at once, well then you might be the person that brought that on style. Kids now wear 3 or more watches. I saw that on a student down here. One was a ring, another one was a braclet,the other two were on the left hand. Does that suppose to mean something. Hey, Susie Q, everybody have their own style. My daughter was Punkie Bruster, with two or three different color of socks at the same time. Tennie shoes, one red and one white. or black:D What a headache but it didn't kill me, but gave me green hair.

Belive me we all done the home base,children and husband family. You are married and I am sure you have single and divorce friends. that is kept as friends but you don't hang out with them all the time. You don't have much things in common. It was time to catch up. Other times inviting for graduation,BQs,wedding were invited. Now when you are divorce, most of the time you hang out with single persons, you are mostly outs of the married group even though you still have friends that are married. Actually I am. I had the Gold membership and recently let it lapse. Needless to say, I have NOT kept in touch with any of the people I graduated high school with. I do keep in touch with quite a few of my college friends.

Well I finally saw a few of the people I graduated with and wow! was I surprised. They haven't changed a bit and are still as beautiful as they were 28 years ago. It's amazing what we've grown up to be.

"WOW' I really thought they had kill ep online. I saw your post a few days ago, but I was going out of town for New Years. I hope every body had a wonderful holidays. Since I was good this year, my xmas was good. New years well not like I had it plan. I went and took the flu shot a day before my flight. Not a good idea, I was sick all night long. My flight was the following day Dec 29. 9am. Three hrs waiting on line to cross over the security. I was just taking a traveling back pack. I could not use my thick jacket on the plane, I had to put it on the top compartment. They no longer give you a small blanket or a pillow. I was already green of being sick, so than I was green and purple of how cold I was. If you go to the bathroom more than once, they will keep an eye on you. I couldn't say I was sick, cus I was afraid they will pull me off the flight. Once I was at my destination I was fine. I had allot of fun, but it was cold. I will never go to a cold place again. I don't think I want to fly again, a road trip, train anything but flying. Its not worth it.

I glad you had fun at your mini class reunion. Yes, its funny how everybody end up doing something different from our young conversations and dreams that one share with our friends or best friends. I am more close to college friends than high school friends. Maybe because we did more grown up stuff:D :confused: stay cool
