KSAt 12 is going to do a report on the Kickapoo Casino tonight. It's on July 26, today on a Monday.
I checked the forum too late and I missed it. Did anyone tune into it?

I did. Basically, the new casino is twice as big as the current moduler casino that is in use. They are putting palm trees around the casino. Inside the new casino, the walls are that of limestone to give it that southwestern flare. There is a "dome" that will help bring in ESPN televised fights into EP. I've emailed the Casino Website and they told me that they will replace all the slot machines they currently have and replace them with Las Vegas style machines. They also told me that they will add a hotel with an Indian theme that will overlook the Rio Grande. They really want to make that hotel along with the casino a first class tourist destination. They hope a chain reaction will occur and create just like some casino towns down in Louisiana or Mississippi.
I am really excited that a chain reaction of a good thing will happen with the casino stuff. I hope EP will take advantage of the opportunity and profit from it too. :)

A lot people around Texas are actually getting excited about the Kickapoo casino. I know that here in Austin, the Casino is actually getting some media coverage. Friends that I have in S.A., Laredo, and the Valley are really excited about having a casino nearby. My friends have not been to the moduler casino(Thank God,LOL) but they've seen photos of the new constructed casino and the news that they'll have class 3 gaming, which is the equivalent of Las Vegas style gaming. Many people from South and Central Texas are tired of having to go all the way to Louisiana or Nevada for their gambling exploits. But now they can come gamble at a future world class casino that will be less than 3 hours away to drive. That really beats having to drive 8-10 hours to gamble in Louisiana or spend thousands of dollars to fly by plane to Vegas. That would be great to see Eagle Pass turn in the Vegas of Texas and really put Eagle Pass as a tourist destination for all Texans and for those from our neighbor to the south, Mexico.

When will the New Casino Open? Sounds like its going to be a pretty nice place. I know people in Del Rio have been talking about it. Yet I think the people that run the Casino should Up Date the Billboard they have of the Casino in Del Rio. It's looking a little out dated and worn out.
Does anyone know if the Kickapoo bus still picks up people in Del Rio and takes them to the Casino and Backf to Del Rio? Just wondering.

I've heard that the latest they plan to open it is in late September. So you could see the new casino opening anywhere from August to September. I think they are already planning to give a boxing match a the casino "dome" on August 13. The Kickapoo does give free busing service to both S.A. and Laredo, but I'm not sure about Del Rio.

I can't wait till the casino opens! Eagle Pass is going to finally get world class entertainment. Hopefully, EP will start to get big time restaurant chains such as olive garden or red lobster to come down if it is really a success.
Texas Roadhouse would be the bomb.

Two weeks ago I was in EP. I went to the casino and won $900 playing the 21 tournament they had. Well, you sat on a table and played 21 for an hour, because each hour they would have players spin the wheel to win up to $1000. I got my seat call 4 times that night.

I hear the state of Texas is considering to Legalize Casino Gambling. If the State does allow for Casino type of Gambling to go on. This will be a major blow for the Kickapoo Casino.
What do you all think?

In response to Eagle's question, I don't think the Casino will have to worry about tha issue for awhile. Most of the lawmakers in this state are conservative, and gambling is against both their moral and religous values. If I remember correctly, the Texas House voted overwhemingly against legalized gambling, a vote that included Republicans and Democrats voting against, and Rick Perry was not even close to getting the 2/3 approval of the house in order to get it to the Texas Senate.
As for me, I wanted to ask if anybody knew when the grand opening of the Casino would be. I rememeber awhile back that they said they'd open it in Septemember, but I haven't heard anything from the media about the opening.

The reason I ask if this was a concern for anybody is because Governor Rick Perry really thinks it will help out the state in tax money.
From the looks of it many Texans won't mind having Casino style gambling legalized.
That's seems to be an ongoing topic in the states Capital these days.
If Casino Gambling is legalize it would hurt the Kickapoo Casino big time. Right now Texans really don't have much to offer in gambling except charity bingo's, the State's Lottery, and those illegal game rooms. Also known as 8 liners.
If Casino gambling is legalize you can expect to see Casino's popping up all over the state.
