I think they are not guilty. Those people shouldn't have even been crossing the river in the first place. It is against the LAW to cross ILLEGALY into our country.

Any person who is not a citizen of this country shouldn't cross into this country illegaly. That includes Cubans, Hatians, and people of all other nationalities, including Canadians. We should be beefing up our border as we speak. There have already been terrorists who have tried to cross the Texas border. Down in the Valley, there were people in a town in Mexico who claimed that 7 people of middle eastern descent were trying to hire "coyotes" to cross into the US. They were willing to pay upwards of thousands of dollars to be crossed. Unfortunately, we do not know where they plan to come through.

By the way, does anyone find it odd that the 2 Presidential Candidates have refused to talk out the immigration issue, even though it's one of the country's biggest issues. It is probably extremely easy for a potential terroist to bring in a WMD's such as Chemical or Biological weapons through our borders, especially through cities such as Eagle Pass.

Illegal or not...breaking the law or not..these people are still human...and if it is true...Im only getting bits and pieces out here... it is the responsiblity of the BP to let them cross then capture them and send them back.....
My husbands cousin is a BP out in the valley... and people no matter what should be treated humanly.... I know I contradict myself when asked about the terrorist, because then I would not agree.....and say the things I am saying right now....

I know I wont get postive feedback on this and it's ok.... I still stand my ground...

First of all these people should have never crossed the River.
Several Reasons:

If only the U.S. would secure the borders and let it be known that crossing is a bad thing and punish the people that are caught then the number of crossing and deaths will be lower.
Apparently, it is not working. Immigrants crossing over know the high risks they are taking. They still take it and will continue to do so, because many of them are in the worst situations and see the US as their only solution.
There are police officers who catch immigrants breaking the law (drunk driving) instead of taking them in and doing the paperwork, they are given information on what to do to stay legally. Many officers don't want to take the time to do this sort of stuff, atleast not in the DFW area.

The only true legal immigrants are the Native Americans, if it wasn't for people wanting a better life and taking risks to find that life, commerce would cease to exist. There's a movie comming out called "A Day without A Mexican" concerning how California would deal with the day to day minial <-(misspell?) jobs that these Mexicans hold if they all just left.

Actually, native Americans are not really legal immigrants. If you remember your history, the native Americans were once Asian nomadic peoples who crossed the Bering Straight 30,000 years ago during the Ice Age, into the Americas. So America belongs to nobody but God.

If america truly belonged to god we would not be at war right now , all the illegals here would be able to open a bank account so they would not be robbed they would be able to buy a home with all their hard earned money there would not be borders i guess you know what im getting at its a nice way of thinking though but not being too realistic
Actually, illegal immigrants ARE now allowed to open bank accounts legally with legal documents. I don't mean the "bought" or "fake" documents I mean their "real" documents. They started this because most "illegal immigrants" were known to carry ALOT of cash and were easy targets. They also buy houses with their hard earned money because they end up adding a new family member with your tax money from medicare and use the babies social security number to secure their house. Why I know this? There are more illegal immigrants in DFW than I ever saw in my entire life.
So I guess it does belong to God. :)

Who are we to close the borders?? How the hell did some of our ancestors come to be in America.. call me naive, or unedumacated in History, but I won't retract what I've posted....
Also about opening a bank account, Mena is right, they now can open a bank account and to use as a social security card, they apply for a card that identifies them as tax payers, because they do pay taxes, so now when Tax day comes along they recieve what they've worked for. Some illegals even though as everyone puts it are "breaking the law" pay there dues in society and are given crap in return....I'm sure you wouldn't work for the pay, benefits or lack there of, or apply for the types of jobs they do.
But then again, I'm seeing this from a totally different prespective living in the MidWest. Recently we've had marches for the rights of immigrants, be it legal and illegal ones...
If you're a productive person in society and contribute to the economy etc, something needs to be done to educate these people and try to make them at least legal residents and give them papers to work in the US legally...Criminals should be deported, I agree with that wholeheartedly...
Recently, we had a raid in our community..... alot of Mexican people were arrested for narcotics,racketeering, manufacturing meth etc.... all of them were US Citzens... I find it ironic that we defend those that are US Citizens and endanger our children and the rest of the community, yet want to get rid of those undocumented workers, who the only wrong they've done is come to America for a better life and are doing everything possible to adhear to the laws once they get here.

Illegal immigrants are not perfect people either. Many have learned the tricks to use them against Americans. If they are here and single a great percent of them have no respect towards working people or young children who attend school. When they get home they play music VERY loud to the wee hours of the night. The bottles of beer, and trash are all over the parking lots.
If they don't like you because you are an American citizen or they plain don't like you, they will report you to the boss that you made a racial discrimination comment and get the person in trouble or fired. After they get the innocent person fired they will recommend their relatives to the NEW job opening that needs to be filled. After they get a big enough crew they run the show. They then decide to take breaks and lunches at the same time to watch the "soccer" game. The boss has no say so because he/she will be afraid of them all walking out at the same time. If he/she says something, guess what? The boss is being prejudice because they are "immigrants of mexican decent". The innocent bosses have gotten fired for this too. Companies don't want a suit against them.
They are also known to program tvs and hide or take the remote so you have no choice but, to watch spanish stations whether you like it or not.
This is true but, sad. So not all of them are pleasant to be around. They too have faults. This is why many citizens don't like them either.
Anyway, don't get me wrong not everyone is like this. I know there are other good people who just want to do better and respect laws and people just like the rest of us.
I am just trying to show both sides of the coin. :)

Mena, and I totally agree with you....it's upsetting to see Illegal immigrants have a nice house and a brand new car(the ones you describe above)....and you being an American Citizen, can barely afford those luxuries.....
I am just speaking for those who are productive, adhear to the laws of the US and are trying to better themselves....

Actually there is no proof that the BP Agents were actually throwing rocks at those illegals that drowned. The local media is infamous for pointing fingers without any proof! The area where those illegals drowned is monitored 24X7 with video cameras. There is one camera right above Vargas Warehouse on Commercial Street. If it was true those cameras would have captured the whole incident.

Your right Mena, Illegal immigrants are not all perfect. Keep in mind a number of these illegal immigrants are not coming to America to look for work but to escape the law in Mexico because of some crime they have committed. That or to take advantage of all the Free Government Programs the U.S. offers to there citizens.

That's pretty much how most people feel about Border Patrol in all Border Towns.
Border Patrol pretty much helps the local Economy plus supports non profit organizations and educates our students in public schools on what they do and how they protect our borders each and every day for us.
Let's give these people some slack. They do a lot each and everyday to keep us protected. It's a big border out there.
And we all need to wake up and smell the coffee. I keep hearing this over and over about immigrants that they just want to come over and have a better life. That is pretty much BS now. These people at first just wanted that. Now they are smarter and just want to screw the American People. They send there kids to our schools they benefit from our free government programs for needy people. Such as Food Stamps, Housing, Medicaid, Medicare. And all this is being paid for by American Tax Payers.
In return illegal immigrants don't file income taxes. And they really don't put that much back into the economy.
So lets wake up people something must be done before they completely take over our country.
Illegal immigrants are now able to file taxes although not all of them know how. It is a program that I recently heard of. They do help our economy too because they live here. The thing that makes me mad are the couples that come over in their last stages of pregnancy, apply for medical help, have their child and go back to their country without earning or leaving a penny behind. Now that p*****me off. Now grandma or grandpa can't get help to pay their prescriptions but, we can have a citizen of ANOTHER country have their medical stuff paid for. How do you explain that one?

Well, there is no one to blame here but our Local Government. Maybe the only way they will do something is if people like me and you that don't agree on "certain" things illegal are doing will write letters to our people in Washington D.C.
I know this issues has been on the news a lot especially during the prime time hours of televisions. On CNN and FOX News.
Yet it's election year and neither candidate will do anything about it. Bush has done nothing but kiss Presidents Fox ass. And Kerry doesn't seem to do anything about our Border Issues either.

Sorry MINNESOTA if I p***** you off. I didn't mean for my opinion to sound uneducated. I should've explained myself a little better. But Eagletx21 has a point, that is how most people feel about Border Patrol or Customs in all Border Towns. See, as you know we don't have any big Toyota plants or other big company plants/factories here in E.P. to boost our economy. Those agencies are it. Now, we'll wait to see how the casino does.

You didn't pi** me off, It's healthy debate...I'm just giving you my perspective living in Minnesota....I know it's very different in Texas, I grew up there.
Thing is I deal with this on every day basis up here, and you get kind of protective of certain things (undocumented workers/childern and how they are treated, being Mexican etc)...
Here in Minnesota we have this "No Child Left Behind" Law, where every child no matter what their status gets an education. I'm not aware if all states have this or just us up here... My statements are mostly aimed for the children of these people.
And yes here they do file for income tax every year...and the majority of welfare recipients are Anglo.
So no... I don't get pi**ed off.... :angry: haha...

Etx21, are you really that ignorant. Do you think all border patrolmen are here because they want to help our community. I think you better wake up. I know of quite a few of these patrolmen and believe me they don't care if you're an illegal or not, they'll treat you as if you were a criminal. They all of a sudden want to become Highway protrolmen. One third of them are Rednecks who wouldnt give you the time of day. They're just here long enough to get seniority, then leave.
Of course, not all of them are like that. Just like not illegal aliens are criminals.
If you deport all the illegal aliens in this country we'd be in serious trouble. Do you think the people on welfare are gonna work in the fields for minimum wage?
The problem is not that the illegal aliens are taking our jobs but our jobs are there for the taking and they're the only ones willing to do it.

If they go thru the trouble of getting a tax number they will file taxes, because like most Americans they will receive their income tax return. If they were so worried about getting deported they would be hiding and not out there working. It is a 50/50 chance they take like they do with their own lifes when they decide to cross over.

I believe that La Pinche Migra will be investigated. The underlying problem is illegal immigration. This country was founded by LEGAL IMMIGRATION. True we stole it from the NATIVE AMERICANS, so look at what LEGAL IMMIGRATION does to a population. Imagine what illegal immigration will do to this country. Many undocumented immigrants are coming to the US to seek a better life. However, there are some hardened criminals who come to the US ILLEGALLY, and give undocumented immigrants a bad name. Bottom line in all of these problems is the GREEN BACK.
The thoroughly corrupt Government of Mexico cannot afford to feed and house a majority of its population, therefore, those people come to the US whether LEGALLY or ILLEGALLY. Those who immigrate here send money back to family in Mexico. The corrupt Mexican Government takes its skim of the money spent in the Mexican economy. This alleviates FOX and friends having to spend any government funds for social programs in Mexico. They can divert this funding to pay back the loans from the World Bank/IMF, thus making the US Government and the Banking System which runs this government happy. The illegals that are here vote and contribute to the US economy via cheaper labor thus lowering costs for big/small business. This makes the Republicans happy. The illegals also require social programs such as welfare/healthcare...this makes Democarts happy, because the Democrats use these programs to buy votes. Yes some illegal do indeed vote.
In summary...Corrupt Mexico cannot feed its people, people immigrate LEGALLY and ILLEGALLY to US to seek better life, people send money back to Mexico and elsewhere, family in Mexico spend that money help pump the economy, Mexican Government uses that money and pays back World Bank/IMF loans, US Banks, (which make up World Bank) are happy, Republicans happy with cheap labor, Democrats happy with votes, family in Mexico happy with money, Illegal Immigrants happy with new money and jobs. Win Win for everybody? No.
The good old Law Abiding Legal US Citizen is paying for all of this...higher taxes, higher healthcare or no healthcare due to closed clinics, loss of jobs, higher crime, crowded schools. There are many groups who have hidden agendas and want to see people ILLEGALLY immigrate here. The Law Abiding US Citizens are being divided and conquered by these various groups. Wake up people.

Same thing was going on near my house. In fact just behind my house. Our Neighbors son was a drug dealer mostly just pot. Most of the time we saw a lot of people in their house. After a while it just got plan annoying people coming and going at 2 or 3 o'clock in the Morning during the week. Then one morning A guy was dead in the Alley not our neighbor <_< from what we heard he overdosed he was a young guy also.
Well, all that stop already. From what I heard the guy is now in Prison. I guess finally someone got the nerve to put a stop to it. :ph34r:
If the cops know about this and are not doing something. Then if you really want to put an end to this. Call the Local FBI they will look into this. They will make sure it gets taken care of.

In summary...Corrupt Mexico cannot feed its people, people immigrate LEGALLY and ILLEGALLY to US to seek better life, people send money back to Mexico and elsewhere, family in Mexico spend that money help pump the economy, Mexican Government uses that money and pays back World Bank/IMF loans, US Banks, (which make up World Bank) are happy, Republicans happy with cheap labor, Democrats happy with votes, family in Mexico happy with money, Illegal Immigrants happy with new money and jobs. Win Win for everybody? No.
The good old Law Abiding Legal US Citizen is paying for all of this...higher taxes, higher healthcare or no healthcare due to closed clinics, loss of jobs, higher crime, crowded schools. There are many groups who have hidden agendas and want to see people ILLEGALLY immigrate here. The Law Abiding US Citizens are being divided and conquered by these various groups. Wake up people.
This topic is very interesting to me. My husband is a border patrol agent. I used to think the way you all do, but there is a risk that illegal immigrants are taking. Every day my husband comes home with new stories to talk about, most of these illegals have been caught several times and they keep sending them back, my husband has been shot at by some of these people, almost gotten assaulted by some immigrants, he has caught on 2 seperate occasions 350 to 650 pounds of marijuana that were being crossed over. I can't feel sorry for them because this is the choice they took, we all have choices. I have a newborn and a 2 yr old and I worry more about their dad coming home with everything going on. It has gotten really bad out there. I bet you all didn't know that there are people from Iraq traveling into the interior of mexico learning the language and trying to blend in to pass as south americans, hondurans, etc. It is a job just like any job. My husband has a duty to protect our borders and so all I gotta say is that I sleep alot better at night knowing there are people out there putting there lives at stake protecting our borders.

I feel that Border Patrol have a lot to do. And us normal citizens that don't really have a clue what really goes on out their along our huge Border jump into conclusions on things that may or may not be true.
I feel that any illegal immigrant trying to cross into our borders should not be treated with respect or dignity. Illegal immigrants know they are braking U.S. law when crossing here illegally that would make them a criminal. The U.S. puts up with a lot from these people. It's time we put our foot down and start enforcing our laws.
If people want to be treated Humanely then they should enter humanely as well. There are plenty of ways to enter this country the right way. If they don't chose that path then so be it. Don't expect to be treated humanly then.

I said it before....We need to celebrate the great job our Border Patrol does to protect our communities. New York made a big fuss about "their own"....Well Eagle Pass has the Great Green Wave (some college used that) and they are the Border Patrol.. They are The Few, The Proud and The Best along our border.

First of all, has the U.S. government done anything lately about finding the terrorist who laced mail with Anthrax and sent it to various people in the U.S. who later died? Innocent people also died who had nothing to do with any political agenda. Where is it happening, from "within" our borders!
Timothy McVeigh, another terrorist who exploded a Ryder truck in front of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City and killed and estimated 100 innocent people, including children who where on the first floors of the building close to the explosion. Where did it happen, from "within" our borders!
The Unibomber, Ted Kaszinsky, another terrorist who for years evaded capture killed also many people by sending innocent professors, and other people bombs that were sent via packages and letters. Where did it happen, from "within" our borders!
The bomber who bombed the Atlanta Summer Olympic Games back in the 90's, another terrorist. Where did it happen from "within" our borders!
Oh, and we musn't forget the number 1 most wanted person, who is at large and still has yet to be captured, Osama Bin Laden. He may have not terrorized the U.S. from "within" our borders, but the interesting thing is that he terrorized our country without even having to penetrate our borders. Now what do you make of that? He is laughing at us somewhere in Afghanistan or Pakistan and saying to himself, "the U.S. is still filled with sleeper cells" from "within" its borders.
