I keep hearing whispers about "Eagle Pass" lawsuits, but no one really wants to come out and say anything. Anyone care to elaborate?

Can you give more details? What sorts of whispers have you heard?

Eagle Pass lawsuits...well, here's what that's all about. Some time ago there were people suing stores like HEB at the drop of a hat (probably still going on), they would slip on a grape or slip on water...well, it got so bad that rumors started going around that if HEB was sued again, they would move out of Eagle Pass. At that time (late 80s early 90s), HEB was pretty much the sole source of groceries to Eagle Pass and the surrounding communites. The latest round of lawsuits that I hear my mother complain about ( i don't live in EP anymore) are lawsuits by uninsured motorists from Mexico..they run into you or cause you to run into them and then go for the big bucks. I don't know if any of this is really true but it sure sounds like an advertisement for tort reform. For as long as I have lived, Eagle Pass has been ensconced in some sort of scandal (didn't Queta Diaz run naked through the streets or something)i don't know!...but you know, i can't wait to go back and visit.

I have always heard the same sorts of things about EP. In Eagle Pass one has to be creative when it comes to making money I guess

Not my choice of income but to each their own

Did the lawsuits slowed down in EP?

LOL, I was a juror in one of those cases against HEB and we did not award the victim any money.

It is one thing when a business does something intentional and it's another thing lazy people do just to squeeze money.

What some people don't know is that when they sue companies like HEB the prices will rise and everyone else will suffer.

I heard that they're already making a lawsuit against Applebees because a lady spilled hot soup on her lap! If this is true, ... *laughs* wow

...and that is why major restaurants don't want to come to Eagle Pass. It is such a shame.

I know from experiance that it is hard for any busines to get insured at even a semi affordable rate if the name eagle pass is mentioned. THAT is sad and it tells you how bad it really is. :(

What it biols down to is this...

Too many people want money that they did not work for! One way or the other...
