Border Patrol In Eagle Pass

Because of the fears of terrorists crossing our border, there is a need for beefing up our border. Does anyone know if we are starting to get more BP and Customs Agents in EP? These 2 Fed Agents are a big cog in the the EP economy. Without them, we'd be like Crystal City. They put so much money into our economy. I also wanted to ask if anyone knew any info on the BP station that they were building in the southside. That one station was supposed to bring in an additional 250 BP agents.

Construction of the new BP Station has not started. Da Jakal is looking at the wrong building, the land where the new BP Station will be built is on the opposite (south) side of El Indio Hwy. The property is located across from where that new facility is being built. The approximate size of the main bldg is 45,000 sq. ft.

I don't know how many border patrol stations EP has but Del Rio has 2. They built one not too long ago about 5 years ago. Then another one about 2 years ago which is the largest of the two. Del Rio is the Main Sector for this area.

Keep in mind the Government doesn't build these stations to help the local Economy they build them to protect us the American Citizens.

Yet it's always good news for us border town folks when something new is being built.

There is only 1 Border Patrol Station in Del Rio on Highway 90, the other building on Bedell Street is NOT a Border Patrol Station, its their Sector Headquarters building where all the staff works, i.e. vehicle maintenance, Human Resources, Logistics, IT, Vehicle Seizures, Training, Intelligence and the Del Rio Sector Chief and his Staff.

First of all Border Patrol as you call them Fogget green men are continuously patrolling the border for us American Citizens can feel some sense of security. Although it's too much border and not enough BP they are doing the best they can. Each day thousands of illegal's are caught and returned back into Mexico.

Stop and Think of all the Illegal's that have crossed to the U.S. do you ever think a Rapist or Murder or Child Molester has crossed over to the U.S. Side?

Illegal's are also a drag to our economy. They are sending their bus load of kids into our public schools free of charge for them since they don't pay taxes unlike us American Citizens. They also receive Food Stamps which is paid for my American Citizen Taxpayers so they can sit down all day and eat. The are a drag to our Hospitals as well Hospitals can't refuse them treatment and then end up taking advantage of the Health Care system. Oh ya all illegal's are Criminals as well and should be placed in some type of prison system for breaking a law by entering the U.S. illegally.

The Border Patrol is also one of the biggest economic generators in EP. They are one of the biggest reasons why EP is getting all these nice restaurants and movie theaters. They bring a lot of money into the community. EP would really suck economically without all these border agencies.

I've read all of the back and forth messages, and all I have to say is that I am proud to be Mexican American. Yes there are criminals crossing the borders that dont need to be coming over here, but those that are coming over here to try and make an honest living I dont blame them. Its too bad that people sometimes forget about their ancestry and where they came from. They forget about their great grandparents who were probably also illegal at one time as well. My parents came here illegally many years ago and have since become permanent residents I am a U.S. citizen, I live in one of the largest cities in Texas and when I am driving by the streets and I see My people working hard at building the houses that we live in, or the roads the we drive on, or even the landscaping I cant help but feel a sense of pride. Welfare and Food Stamps are just some of the examples of GOVERNMENT Money they receive.

Keep in Mind when these people are receiving GOVERNMENT money the GOVERNMENT got this from American TAXPAYERS that would mean the legals in this country that work just as hard if not harder then some of the illegal's that cross over to our country.

Illegal's get to send all their kids into our public school systems free of charge of course since they usually don't pay even city taxes or school taxes in their community either. They also receive housing. Housing that should go to American Citizens not illegals that cross over with all their family and end up living in newly built apartment complexes and pay about $50 of rent when there are American Taxpayers paying about $400 of rent for Apts in many places in this country.

I am Mexican and I am proud. But there's also something else that I am and that is MEXICAN AMERICAN something illegal's are not. I feel proud when I see on TV Mexican Americans that are doing something positive instead of like what the illegal's are doing and screwing up the U.S. economy as the governments sinks deeper and deeper into debt.

I almost forgot. Illegal's also put a large burden on the Hospitals in this country. While they are working on their 3 or 4 kid and having their kids delivered at our Hospitals we have American Taxpayers paying thousands just have a kid for Doctor Visits etc. Then they use Emergency Care services Ambulance/ER and all without insurance or money to even cover the cost of the bill. In return American citizens are faced with sky high hospital bills.

All I have to say is Thanks Illegal's because of you all it is getting harder and harder for American Citizens of middle and lower class to prosper in this country. Because of illegal's we are faced with high cost of living. Actually illegal aliens are eligible for medicaid if they are pregnant and are living in the United States at the time of their pregnancy. It will only cover them from the time they enter the hospital until the time they leave the hospital. It is call TP 30 or temporary medicaid. All hospital bills are paid by the state as well as the bills of the child when it is born. Then that child is born as a US citizen. Then the child is able to get food stamps so if the family is made up of 1 US citizen child and 6 illegals or how many they are, that household gets about 120.00 in food stamps. Plus the child receives WIC. State employees are unable to call Border Patrol when they are applying for benefits unless they show you a deportation letter. Having worked for welfare for 9 yrs they actually do receive it. Just some info...

Actually illegal aliens are eligible for medicaid if they are pregnant and are living in the United States at the time of their pregnancy. It will only cover them from the time they enter the hospital until the time they leave the hospital. It is call TP 30 or temporary medicaid. All hospital bills are paid by the state as well as the bills of the child when it is born. Then that child is born as a US citizen. Then the child is able to get food stamps so if the family is made up of 1 US citizen child and 6 illegals or how many they are, that household gets about 120.00 in food stamps. Plus the child receives WIC. State employees are unable to call Border Patrol when they are applying for benefits unless they show you a deportation letter. Having worked for welfare for 9 yrs they actually do receive it. Just some info...

Let's see I am old enough to vote but not old enough to drink legally. That should pretty much tell you how old I am.

I wasn't guessing when I wrote that illegals get Housing, Food Stamps, Welfare you know the works. I know for a fact they receive all these funds that belong to American Citizens.

Look at it this way because of illegals we have elderly people that go each day without the prescription drugs that they need. Due to lack of Funds that go towards Medicaid and Medicare etc that illegals are receiving.

Because of illegals our children in our schools are staying behind because teachers have to split their time in half in order to teach a class in English for almost all the students and then teach it in Spanish for 1 or 2 kids that are placed in their classes because of lack of funds for schools that is spent on transportation on new buses and free lunch programs.

Because of illegals Americans children, teenagers and adults go with out regular doctor check ups with out yearly eye exams or regular visits to the dentist offices because the money is being spent on illegals that not only use but also take advantage of our systems.

Because of illegals Americans are losing their jobs first in fields now young Americans are also losing their jobs to illegals working at fast food restaurants popular with teenagers.

Because of illegals construction workers, labors, cement layers, roofers are losing money each day because now there are others out there that work for far less then what a Average American should earn to live a decent living without Govt. Assist funds.

My husband is a Border Patrol Agent, he has been one for 5 yrs now and within those 5 yrs, he has been shot at by illegals, cut with a knife by an illegal, almost attacked by 3 of them. 1 of them had a warrant out for his arrest in San Marcos for raping and stabbing a woman and the other 2 had been deported 2x. The only thing that matters to me is that my husband comes home safe to his family. They know exactly how everything works here in the United States, they know that after being at the station for a certain amount of time after being processed, they know they get a free McDonalds meal, why because they ask for one.
My son has a speech and hearing problem, was tested and now concidered being special ed, but instead of being able to enroll with head start, he can't, he has to put on a waiting list, why because an administrator there told me that a huge percentage of the kids there are illegals. So, it's these kids that are there illegally, that are keeping my son from getting the help that he needs.
They are not "My People", my people are not here illegally and are not criminals

You don't know anything about my kid or how much my income is. My sister works for headstart and this is not an income issue, he is concidered special ed, he should automatically qualify to be enrolled.
But you keep getting these illegals their homes, so more kids can sit and wait it out like mine.

Eagle, I hate to put it to you this way, but you are way too paranoid about immigrants. As a matter a fact, I bet you are more afraid of the immigrants taking minimum wage jobs that not even blacks will do as Presidente Vicente Fox of Mexico declared when posed with the question of immigration, than you are of terrorists. Besides, why don't you just join the Minutemen because you obviously have nothing better to do than to blame the country's problems on immigrants. I think the United States should move the Statue of Liberty along the border between the U.S. and Mexico to remind us that immigrants not only come here from across the Atlantic but also from across our borders. Eagle you are also forgetting that all immigrants pay sales taxes and where does that money go? Into the pocket of the U.S. government who probably uses that very tax money that immigrants paid to build pork-barrel projects like bridges in Alaska that go to nowhere in rural areas there. That's just one example, I mean the list is endless. Many Americans probably have their kids educated on the backs of these very immigrants who DO pay taxes. I know that tax evasion is popular in this country in case you just don't know. The least we can do in appreciation for immigrants helping to build our great cities for wages that are considered poverty rates even in this country, is to offer the children of these oppressed people an education so that they can help this country even more. Who knows? There might rise an Einstein from this group of people someday.

Eagle, I hate to put it to you this way, but you are way too paranoid about immigrants. As a matter a fact, I bet you are more afraid of the immigrants taking minimum wage jobs that not even blacks will do as Presidente Vicente Fox of Mexico declared when posed with the question of immigration, than you are of terrorists. Besides, why don't you just join the Minutemen because you obviously have nothing better to do than to blame the country's problems on immigrants. Become a vigilante without a cause because there is no way in the world they will be able to stem the tide of immigration into this great country of opportunities.

I think the United States should move the Statue of Liberty along the border between the U.S. and Mexico to remind us that immigrants not only come here from across the Atlantic but also from across the border. As a matter a fact, I think they should move it to Laredo, Texas. At its present location of New York some people are easily forgetting what the Statue of Liberty represents.

True, too many people will sink a boat, but I think that's a poor analogy to use on your behalf because, first, this huge land mass that is not overpopulated like China or even India so it is nowhere near like a boat. Our vast land expanse will not sink anytime soon, maybe a sliver of California will someday sink into the Pacific because it lies on an active fault line, but all of the continental U.S. sinking because of too many people, give me a break!

Eagle you are also forgetting that all immigrants pay sales taxes and where does that money go? Into the pocket of the U.S. government who probably uses that very tax money that immigrants paid to build pork-barrel projects like bridges in Alaska that go to nowhere in rural areas there. That's just one example, I mean the list is endless. Many Americans probably have their kids educated on the backs of this very immigrants who DO pay taxes. The least we can do in appreciation for immigrants helping to build our great cities for wages that are considered poverty rates in this country, is to offer the children of these oppressed people an education so that they can help this country even more. Who knows? There might rise an Einstein from this group of people someday.

Answer this: How can an immigrant that will work for far less then the average American wage live in the U.S out of poverty and still contribute at the same time to the economy and government?

They don't contribute and what they do contribute on buying clothing or food is not enough in sales tax alone. Just by them having to send 1 kid into our public school systems and receiving the free lunch program and having the district hire bilingual teachers in order for him/her to learn English that a lone is already a burden on our society. Then there is the Welfare they receive then the Free Medicaid for them to have their children and then the WIC that they receive to pay for all the infants milk formula and then after the kid develops teeth they still receive free gallons of milk and cheese and cereal. You know what I mean just walk into a H-E-B and there are labels that read WIC that's where all those people know what to get. They get boxes of Kellogg Cereals that are the largest possible size enough to feed a large family valued probably over $5 then they get Cheese blocks of cheese to be exact that is over $4 then there's the gallon of Milk that they receive another $4. Unless these people spend every single dime back into sales tax they are not helping the U.S. in anyway.

Moving the Statue of Liberty what a dumb a$$ ideal. Who will pay for that? The U.S. government. I doubt the Mexican Govt. or their people will give the U.S. a gift of that magnitude in appreciation for the entire burden their people put on the U.S.

Oh and enough of all this Mayan Aztec stuff you are so into. If you want to prance around your living room to the rain god to prevent a drought that’s fine with me but not even the people that currently live in Mexico take pride on what their ancestry is about.

My opinion stands with toughening up the border. The schools are really getting overcrowded with many illegals. EP had thousands of illegals in EPISD. And guess who is paying for it? Legal USA citizens. There's something wrong there.It ain't fair that those kids get a free education while I have to pay a shitload of taxes to support them.

GOP-led push to end birthright citizenship brewing in U.S. House
McALLEN — A Republican-led effort in the U.S. House of Representatives seeks to change a constitutional amendment that grants American citizenship to any child born on the nation’s soil.
In an effort to deal with illegal immigration, some congressmen are actively discussing the possibility of banning birthright citizenship, also known as "anchor baby provisions," claiming undocumented women have babies on U.S. soil so their children can gain access to this country’s services and benefits.
When those children turn 21, they in turn can petition the federal government for citizenship for their parents and siblings.
The 14th Amendment gives citizenship to anybody born within the United States. To change this or any other amendment, there has to be a proposal in Congress or a constitutional convention from two-thirds of the nation’s state legislatures. Thirty-eight of 50 states must approve any changes to the constitution.
The issue of birthright citizenship could be part of a larger immigration reform bill available for discussion in Congress by the end of the year. Authors of the yet-to-be-named bill will be looking at the Citizenship Reform Act of 2005 for guidance. The act, which would end birthright citizenship, was introduced March 2 on the House floor and given to the Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Claims, where it still sits. The reform package with a possible birthright citizenship ban will be presented to the full House first before it is assigned to a committee. If the bill is voted on by the full House, it will follow the same process in the Senate before going to President George W. Many civil rights organizations say this is just another reactionary effort that eats away at this country’s founding principles.

EDINBURG — Capital murder charges against Guadalupe "Lupio" Guerra were dropped Monday after investigators from the district attorney’s office decided there was insufficient evidence for a conviction.
Guerra was one of the five men charged with capital murder for the Sept. 5, 2002, slaying of four women at a trailer park just outside the Donna city limits.
"The case on Guada-lupe Guerra was too weak to prosecute,’ said Hidalgo County District Attorney Rene Guerra. "That’s the basis for the dismissal. It’s been in the works for some time, but since it was getting close to trial, we decided it should be dropped at this time."
The four women were gunned down in the driveway of a mobile home along Valley View Road.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department, investigators believed the women were killed in retaliation for testifying against a Tri City Bombers gang member at a trial.
It later was discovered that the shooters followed the wrong car and the women killed were not the witnesses they were looking for.
Sheriff’s investigators believed it was Guadalupe Guerra who was responsible for getting the shooters together for the hit.
"It’s like a lot of other cases," Rene Guerra said. "It may go through a grand jury, but eventually we have to make that hard decision about whether we have enough corroborated evidence to prove in court."
Though charges officially were dropped against the 20-year-old Monday, Guerra still is on his way to a prison stint after he was convicted on an unrelated deadly conduct charge

In a separate crime also linked to the Tri-City Bomber gang, four female barmaids were killed in Donna on Sept. 5, 2002 after assailants mistook the women for two other bar employees that had hits out on their lives. Robert "Bones" Gene Garza, 20, was sentenced to death in December for the deaths of those women. Garza is facing another death penalty charge in relation to the Edinburg deaths. A second man, Mark "Snoop" Anthony Reyna, pleaded guilty to the Donna murders and received a life sentence.
The arrests in the Sept. 5 Donna murders were made after Edinburg police made their arrests in late January 2003.
Ramirez will be back in court April 15 while Sauceda and Garza will return May 20 for pre-trial hearings.
