Has anyone gone to that restaurant in Brackettville? It's like a burger and shake place. Well, if you haven't, they have the cheapest menu I have ever seen in my adult life. The service and the food are pretty good.

Hey Cyber person,
I went there some years ago. I don't know how it is now. I bet it is about the same. They really care for theri customers.
Some friends of mine used to work there, in that town, and I went to visit.

If you hear of any improvements, let me know.

Many people don't know that they can get out of Eagle Pass and go for a ride and enjoy some good food some where else....It's not that far and it would be a very interesting outing. It would not be expensive at all. I like to take trips around where I live. I like to get to know the people and the area's history.

some people feel they are stuck there by the river--in Eagle Pass. I hope more advertisement about this area comes their way so they can get away. And there are other places to visit along the way.

I mean, do you know how far it is in miles form Eagle Pass? Prabably not that much.

And then think about it. If People would start to identify collectively in that area of Texas, they would have more political power and get to know eacah other better. As apposed to being divided up with I live here and I live there and I don't think those people like us and all that bull...

Oh well...

Peace...

I don't know which one. What kind of food do they serve? I saw like a taco place next door to the burger place.

Mena,
You had to bring up old memories of Brackettville didn't you. LOL. I used to live there and I miss it very much. It's too bad the economy there is so poor. If I had a lot of money, I'd open up some manufacturing business. A lot of really great people there, and Fort Clark was a nice place/community to live in. If I remember correctly, the restauarant you are referring to is called the Buger & Shake. They had pretty good burgers at reasonable prices. I see they put up a forum topic for Quemado. I saw recently that they are opening up a vineyard/winery in Quemado. I hope they do well.

Let's see,
The Brackett School system was pretty good primarily due to the fact that several graduates from the high school went on to several of the military service academies such as West Point. I also recall several Del Rio residents sending their children to school at the elementary school. That to me speaks volumes about the system. I lived on Fort Clark and I really enjoyed long walks along Las Moras Creek. The pool at the fort in summer is great. It is a spring-fed pool. Like I said earlier, the economy of the town subsists on farming and ranching. If there were some enterprising people in the region, I think some sort of textile manufacturing could exist nearby and employ people from Eagle Pass, Uvalde, Del Rio, and Brackettville. The people are for the most part very friendly. I hope I answered some of your questions Mr. Mena. Hopefully one day I will be able to return to Eagle Pass, or at least to work there.

Mena,
If I remember correctly we went through Debbie Trant for our house. She has a website. If you do a Google search using Debbie Trant, you should get her website.

There are several real estate agencies in Brackettville. The are listed at Biz on www.brackettville.info (http://www.brackettville.info).

The schools are very good. There are few discipline problems and the students are well behaved. There are some excellent instructors. The only drawback is there are not as many subjects offered as in some larger schools. There are quite a few classes that Southwest Texas Junior College offers through distance learning.

Most of the people are friendly. The crime rate is very low.

There is a fairly new restaurant at Fort Clark Springs called Mimi's Restaurant. Anyone can go there to eat just tell the guard that you want to go to the restaurant.

Any other questions about Brackett. I went to school here, graduated, moved and have been back now for almost 20 years.

Serinity,
Where is this new restaurant located on the Fort?

Mimi's Restaurant is located in the same location as the golf club. It is at the 18 hole golf course. You can eat indoors or outside with a view of Las Moras Creek. You take what we used to call the tour route.
