I remember back in the 70's, 80' when Uvalde was a very racist town. I remember that whenever EP would compete down there, they'd throw tortillas on the basketball floor or football field and yell racial epithets. Did you ever experience the racism that once thrived in Uvalde? Has Uvalde changed it's old ways?

Uvalde used to at one time be segregated. There were designated places for the minorities, and the Anglos. I think nowadays, Uvalde is predominantly Hispanic (80 %) but I don't know who controls Uvalde.
I don't know how it is now but, when I went to school there they had Mexican nationals participating during the presentations at the beginning of the rodeo show. I heard it was the first year it ever happened. It was back in the early 90's. I never experienced any racial prejudice when I went to college there.
