 Why don't this so-called city leaders/planners do something to aliviate the "train problem". I'm tired of having to drive around looking for a free railroad crossing. And it always happens during the rush hours of the morning, noon and afternoon. I can understand blocking one crossing, but not five or six. To make matters worse, all these tractor trailers get backed-up all over the place and makes things very hectic. And it seems to be getting worse. Sure Union Pacific gets fined if they block a crossing for a certain number of minutes but they dont care, its cost re-embursable.
I heard of a new overpass in the distant future but thats on the railroad crossing on the loop and its not even a sure thing yet.
My message to future city leaders: If you want my vote, tell me how you are going to takle the "train" issue.

I thought it was just me getting fed up with that freaking train. I freaking hear it at 2AM and so on. I'm sure those freaking guys are doing it on purpose casue there's no reason why they sound theri horn one right after another for 15 seconds or so straight. It's freaking annoying espceially when there's no need to sound the horn at that freaking time!
They shoud have a city ordinance like Del Rio they can't sound the horn in the middle of town.
I hope some of our politicians especially city mamager especially with his background of "lawyer experience" should consider putting some kind of limit to that freaking noise!

I'VE MOVED BACK HERE AFTER MANY YEARS OF BEING AWAY ..I remember why
I moved... The leadership in this town is non-existent ..til somebody with a backbone steps in and says no to the mining companies that destroy the enviroment and give nothing back , maquilladoras that spew toxic waste and kill off thousands with sudden illnesses and cancerous tumors the line of johns waiting in line to take this town is growing rapidly and not one nay sayer in sight ..its sickening to hear the politicians who have an accent thicker than Ricardo montalban all of a sudden have all these catchy white -fed lines that expound the positives of having strip mining done in this area ..is anybody not for sale here ?
once again , til we stop electing these gutless brown-nosers and sell-outs we will always be whores for the railroad and any other entity with a fat wad of money.

I agree, these spineless city officials all cater to one another and they only attempt to listen to the public during elections. And another thing, it seems like this town recycles their leaders. Its always the same people running for different offices. When will we learn that voting for my friend's siter's boyfriend's brother aint gonna cut-it anymore.
But, on the other hand, their aint that much their to pick from. It's a no win situation. :(

haha Trust me mena that's nothing compared to the whiner I hear at work. One happens to be a freaking politician who has done crap for the EPISD employees. Why hide/protect names right? Well, let me tell you about useless politicians ex. R. L. who happens to be as mentioned above......is also a school board member and it's ok if he sees this message he'll know who I am because I'm not hiding behind any other name or face.... Anyway, that's another story this guy tells a EPSID cook that he's unable to solve her problem cause he can't go into school cafeterias. Can you beleive this guy? During his last campaign he said it on TV that he does goes to visit schools and then he contradicts like so many times before he tells this lady that it's against policy or whatever crap that he doesn't have the authority to do reviews or checks on employees. This freakin guy has the freakin...*bleep* ;) to lie to an employee instead of telling her the truth that he's too afraid to speak out and do something for employees. Come on people lets vote him out of office.!!!!!!!!!!! :)

It's too bad I don't live there, otherwise I would help vote him out.

When you return to EP it agravates you, then after a few years of complaining and the city not doing anything you get used to it and know what times to use the only overpass in town. It's like clock work usually the train will block all crossing at 8:30am when everyone is going to work, at noon when everyone is going to lunch, and at 16:30 when everyone is going home, then again around 22:00 hours when I am coming back from the Bar.

So you all go to David for tattoos? That train almost kill me on Nov. I had the radio on and didn't hear the train until I was half way the railroad tracks and the arm pole was coming down on top of the truck, I reverse right away. I time the rain, almost two hrs of the rain going frontward than backwards. It was a long one, cus it cut all the crossings. I got out the truck and see how far it was, so no matter if you decided to go to the next four crossing the train was there. If I not mistaking they are or will be building and over pass for the train. But it was fun when we walk to Jr High and High School, we sometimes hike a ride on it or sometimes they will leave a mmmmmmmmmm I don't know what it was call. It was like a small kind car that runs on the tracks, but it had a long handle and we will have to push the handle up and down and ride on it. We will get the guys to push the handle and we will sit on it around the edge. :D

That lil road you all used to use to cross under the tracks from the old EPJ to Glass school had been blocked. Some kids would climb the tracks or something like that and it was too dangerous. So now it has a Private Property sign on it.

Wow, you set me back a loooong time! Back in the early seventies it wasn't as much a road as it was a well worn path. We used to go under it to catch the Jr. High bus. Mr. Keenon was our driver and you brought those memories flooding back. Thanks!

I was reading epa that the appartments that were building by Ft Duncon had stop because of monies.

What is going on? EP is just throwing alot of money away. They build some two story appartments, quite few building may I say, coming in from the loop going toward the high school. Well I am not a contractor or know much on building, but as they were building them I saw that they were maybe 5ft appart. from each other. People could look or talk at each other through the window:eek: Does the city of EP have city inspectors? Does the contractors have license to build. Don't they have to ask for a permit to build? Don't they have to give the city of EP a copy of Blue Prints? How in the world did they build that mass. Everytime I remodle my home I have to ask for permit, they are on my a$$ everythink has to pass inspection. They were building to put as much people as they can to make money and forget the saftey of all thoes people.

thoes appartments are still empty, I guess did not pass inspection. What could have being stop building at the very begainning. Wast of money, but somebody got pay to build them all the way until finish. If the inspectors had inspect right away or look at the blue prints it could have being avoided. But I also notice the city go an inspect the neighborhoods to make sure your grass is cut. Than the rest of the day they go and have a few cold ones than they are done for the day. I am keeping an eye open. I might not live there, but it tells me alot on how the city is run. Watch Dog

I don't know the name of the streets. But I use to get the loop going into EP avoiding the traffic on main St. I think is the Veterans St, that was a good idea, but I think they should put a gas station or a eating place as one goes in and out of EP. So coming back I have to get main st, so I can stop at MD to pick up coffee/breakfast on my way back to SA. I notice that MD is now empy on big lines like before week-ends or week-days. Only the old fokes that always goes and they all sit on the side.:D My sis call them the usual ones, because they never fail their breakfast.
