On my morning peruse through the various news websites I noticed the former-POW Jessica Lynch is starting 2 get alot of media attention again in lieu of her seperation from the Army and her now being able to do paid interviews, movies, books, etc. Lynch was an American Icon during Operation Iraqi Freedom for "surviving" her long and "strenuous" capture by Iraqi forces....which turns out now was merely a few nights stay in the local hospital. The powers that be at the Dept of Defense have been accused of over-exaggerating details concerning her capture and the conditions she was in, and also persecuted for their mello-dramatic rescue by special forces from all those oh-so-dangerous unarmed nurses and doctors. I feel sympathy for her for her injuries and the circumstances but did she deserve the attention she got? She was held for a few weeks and has had millions of dollars thrown at her feet, YET, we have hundreds of Vietnam era POW's who were imprisoned for years who are scrambling 2 make ends meet. She is a national hero because she led her convoy on a wrong turn, disobeying orders, and then was captured by Enemy forces and taken to a concentration camp...O wait, no that was a HOSPITAL! So she is a national hero because of dereliction of duty, disobeying a direct order, and staying in a hospital. I am sure the hundreds of Vietnam and Korean War POW's feel terrible for the harsh conditions she was under.
Like I said, I feel sorry for her for the conditions she was contained under and all, but there were others from her company that were captured that were under worse conditions. Where are their book deals for the others? Not fair is it?
What do u all think?......
p/s isn't her beau a meskin?

I might have to agree a little bit with you Eagle4ever. That's really hurts me to say that. Well, anyway. Yes, Jessica Lynch is getting too much attention. Attention that I think is not worth giving. Sure she went over to Iraq and fought I do give her respect for that as I will for anyone else who has done the same. But that is the point she like many others have gone through the same ordeal. Yet, being that she was a woman and a young one. The media saw it as a field day and is trying to make the most of it. I mean she even had a movie made after her and a book.
Yes eagle4ever her husband or boyfriend is a Mexican. Last Name Contreras.

Jessica Lynch FOUGHT in Iraq? She was a driver who made a wrong turn. The true fighters are Infantry, Armor, Artillery, Combat Engineer, Rangers, Special Forces, Delta Force, Cavalry. If she was a true soldier she would still be on active duty not collecting money from her speeches/books. What a joke, nowdays everyone is a hero, you take a sh*t on Iranian soil and you are automatically a hero. It's a friggin shame and disrespect to all true combat soldiers.
Way to go energy!!! Let's give credit where credit is due!!!

I do certainly agree that Jessica got the attention she got because she is a young, good looking blonde girl who got "rescued", just like in the movies.
So she's getting more attention again in the news? This is yet another example of the mainstream media dumbing down the population with stories that are irrelevant, rather than focusing on more important and grave issues.
Ah, the mainstream media...gotta love 'em.

Doesn't make a difference if she were a woman or man, supply truck driver or mail man. I used to know a cook who would say, "We may not be the elite, but without us the elite don't eat. You have to have a special soul to be out there. Was it training? Was it her lead leaving her behind? It was war. You have to be a special person to even be out there. I'm glad she was. She has a hell of a story. And I agree the media ran away with it. Hell, it's like she won the lottery. And the liars on the hill will TRY to keep the countrys eyes on these stories, instead of the miserable (is it criminal?) job they are doing.
