Yes. It's disgusting. And even though I know it's here, I live in Brackett, I'm still shocked every time I run into it. I applaud the school for not tolerating it though.

Doesn't Brackett have a Hispanic mayor by the name of Garza? Were his opponents making a big deal out of his ethnicity during Brackett's mayoral race? How is the small Black Seminole community treated? Does N word pop up a lot?

As a whitey/guerra(sp?) in Brackettville I sometimes think that I hear a lot more slurs about the Mexicans than the Mexicans themselves do. I'm shocked that people think it's okay to make racial statments in front of me just because I'm white, but I'm babbling now.......I've never once heard anyone in Brackettville ever refer to a Seminole by the n-word. I don't really know many of the Seminoles well, and I don't know that they are treated differently. You'd have to ask them. I haven't seen it happen, but that doesn't mean anything.

I don't recall Garza's opponents making any big deal at all out of his ethnicity. I griped about him, I'm still not thrilled that he got elected, but it had nothing to do with his race. There are grumbles from some before every election in Brackettville claiming that "we" need to get the Mexicans out of office because they stick together and the whites can't make a difference or fix things. But they don't seem to notice all the whites screwing everything up on the water board, not a Mexican in the bunch, and that whole deal is ...........I won't go there. It's bad, okay? Anyway, people here gripe because the Mexicans stick together but don't seem to notice that rice is sticky too.
