San Antonio, TX -- The San Antonio Spurs signed veteran guard Nick Van Exel on Monday. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Van Exel, who has spent time with five different NBA clubs, averaged a career- low 11.1 points per contest in 53 games with Portland last season.

"We are very happy to have Nick as a part of our team," said Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich. "His leadership and skills will be assets at both ends of the floor."

A product of the University of Cincinnati, Van Exel has a career average of 15.1 ppg game, while hauling down 3.0 rpg per to go along with 6.9 apg in 815 regular-season games with the Lakers, Denver, Dallas, Golden State and the Trail Blazers.

Van Exel has flourished from beyond the arc in his career, nailing 1,473 three-point field goals which rank him fifth all-time in the NBA and first among active players.

Actually he's second...Seattle's Ray Allen has more three point field goals at the moment with 1,486

I heard that Van Exel is really trying hard to recruit Michael Finley to the Spurs. We'll see what happens.

OMG, WHAT? Are you guys serious Van is with the Spurs? Dallas is so doomed. I was really mad when Cuban didn't sign Van again. He did such a great job in Dallas. Sounds like Dallas is moving to SA,he,he,he.... I wonder if Nash is next.... I might just get on the Spurs wagon again since my favorite players are headed south.

I couldn't watch the game live on saturday but, tivoed it. I still watched and I couldn't believe how well the Mavs did. I don't know who the new kid on the block is but, he did well.

I thought the Spurs were going to do us in but, they didn't. What was Duncan doing? He didn't play as good as he usually does. Maybe that new hair of his is weighing him down. J/K. I just can't get use to him with hair on his head.
