San Antonio, TX -- The San Antonio Spurs signed veteran guard Nick Van Exel on Monday. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Van Exel, who has spent time with five different NBA clubs, averaged a career- low 11.1 points per contest in 53 games with Portland last season.
"We are very happy to have Nick as a part of our team," said Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich. "His leadership and skills will be assets at both ends of the floor."
A product of the University of Cincinnati, Van Exel has a career average of 15.1 ppg game, while hauling down 3.0 rpg per to go along with 6.9 apg in 815 regular-season games with the Lakers, Denver, Dallas, Golden State and the Trail Blazers.
Van Exel has flourished from beyond the arc in his career, nailing 1,473 three-point field goals which rank him fifth all-time in the NBA and first among active players.
